First of all I have to ponder the question of is Tommy Arlin mere fiction, a setup to the story, or was that real? It does not really matter to the story. We get thrown right into the action as the main character is awakened by zombies inside his house. Now this is unexpected as the inhabitants of Eden live inside a walled in section of town. The combat is complete with automatic weapons and flamethrowers, which is very helpful when surrounded by masses of the undead. Added to all this mayhem, our hero is bitten and we know he is gonna die. Now from here the story is told in a back and forth fashion between past and present. It is a little hard to get used to, but we learn much background information on the early days of the zombie outbreak and history of the main characters. We quickly find out one of the lead personalities in this story, someone who appears to fight for what is the right things to do has a very disturbing past. Hopefully we can find out more about this figure in a sequel. Who knows, in this world of sequels, prequels, and alternate universe's we could have another novel about both of these characters. There is much more I could get into, but this is fan review, not a critique of literature. The zombies are really close to classic Romero style and the action is non stop. The only drawbacks are the jumping around of the story, but as you get more into it that is really not the case. I completely recommend this novel. Go out and get a copy today. It is available at Amazon which I have a link to the right or it can also be found at Books a Million.
